Emerson loves going to to librbary. He especially loves playing with these education that they have. I always have to make sure that we have time to play if I take him with me.

It was not a fun day today. It was a day full of tantrums and door slaming. Emerson did not want to clean his room, so he made it into a full day of anger. Eventually I started "throwing away" his toys and he immediately started cleaning and even was able to earn his toys back. I hope he doesn't have more days like this.

Emerson got to say prayer today in Primary. He practice a lot the week before.

Here is the prayer that he was prepared to give:

Though I had to leave for a pictures, today was a lazy stay in your PJ's type day. I love days like that. Especially when they are surrounded by busy days.

Tomorrow I am going to be taking some engagement pictures, so I decided to go test out the spot that we were thinking of going. I had Emerson as my model. It was the first time in a long time that he was cooperative taking pictures. He just went spot to spot and was so excited to get his pictures taken. I love when he gets that way. Maybe he is finally learning that he has a mommy that is much happier when he is good for pictures.

We had a picnic in the back yard today. It is nice being able to spend time outside...especially in January.

We had some great weather today, so I took Emerson to the park. He loved trying to climb all the big rocks.

Emerson has started playing pretend recently. It is so great. Today his was all about the slinky being his fishing pole and he was catching fish all day.

After Emerson's gym class today, we were walking out to our car and was hearing a really loud bird noise. I started wondering what it was and turned around and saw the field full of birds. You can only see about a third of what was there in this picture. It was so cool.

We decided to pull out the marble race again today. It is such a fun toy especially after it has been put away for a few months.

Bedtime is Jason and Emerson time. I really love that they have the time to bond. One of Emerson's favorite parts of the bed time routine is brushing his teeth. He loves getting his teeth flossed because he is a big boy and then he has a light up tooth brush (what's not to love about that).

Since we have been so sick in our house this week, we made today a play day. We had class in the morning, then we went to McDonald's for lunch and a lot of play, then we went to Dairy Queen for some icecream, and finally to the chuch for play group. It was a fun day.

We got to Skype with the birthday girl, Lily, today! She turned 5. Emerson sang "Happy Birthday" to her while wearing his favorite Happy Birthday hat.

Today was a continuation of our recovery day. I still am not a 100%, but I was able to watch Em alone today. However, I had him do most things on his own. So he decided that today he was going to wear his coat and Spiderman slippers around the house all day. (Those slippers are like 3 sized to big for him, but he fell in love with them at first sight.) He also got his own special cup that he could refill all day. He is really becoming more independant. I only love it on day like today.

Sick. Sick. Sick.

At the concert yesterday, I started to get a headache, and by bedtime, I was fighting off fevers. I felt like death all day today. Luckily I have a wonderful husband that worked out his schedule to be able to work from home and took over both of our roles. As he worked, he also watched and played with Emerson; made me breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and cared to my ever need. He has been my hero this past day and a half. I love you Jason!

After church today, we went to Jason's orchestra concert. Emerson LOVED it. We actually went on Friday night, and Emerson liked it so much we decided to go again today.

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner today. I have become a Sweet Tomato salad addict ever since I have foud my new favorite thing from there...beets. They are divine. I never have really liked beets, but Emerson had some on his plate last time we went. I decided to try one with my salad and it made such a huge difference. I am so glad that I still try things that I think that I don't like. (I started liking red onions about two months ago too.)

We have officailly made our first purchase from the LEGO store. Emerson was begging to go in the store. and he was really wanting something. He cant quite do the small LEGOs, so I let him get a blue base that fits his Duplo blocks. He was so excited to be able to finally buy and not just look in the LEGO store.

Emerson sent out a fun little birthday surprise for cousin Lily's birthday next week. He chose every little thing that we put in the envelope. He has been so excited to send out this fun surprise. Now he has to start getting Rowen and Lily's together for their birthdays at the beginning of next month.

There are many things to love about this picture.

I love that Emerson is getting older (while hating it at the same time).

I love that he is FINALLY figuring out the scooter.

I love that he still occationally will look back at me just to make sure that I am there.
I love that it is a sunny day in the middle of January.

I love that just after this picture Emerson went and had a five minute conversation with the mailman eating his lunch about the mailbox truck and how it comes everyday and puts mail in the mailbox.

(Little did he know that it is really the mailman that does all the work, not the truck)

My tripod broke a little over a year ago, so I have been making fake tripods with books and such throughout the year. So we decided that it was time to invest in a new nicer tripod that doesn't break so easily. It came today! I can't wait to use it.

This iPod touch app, Where's my Water, has been our addiction lately. Emerson was the one to start playing it, but we all fight to be able to play it. We almost have all 330 ducks. We are going to be sad when we are done with it. Hopefully, they make a expansion for it soon.

We were leaving for church today and Emerson insisted that he wear his hat as part of his church clothes. He has been obsessed with his blue hat this week. Maybe he is just extra cold, or maybe it is just that the hat is blue. You never know with Em.

Usually our Saturdays consist of games and TV (unless there is something better to do). Today Emerson really wanted to play the Wii. He loves being able to play with us--especially daddy when he is home.

We learned our new game, Quarriors tonight. It was really fun and even Emerson was somewhat able to play.

We put Christmas away tonight. Emerson wanted to play with the lights that were extra in the box. He sat there trying to blow out all the lights.

Emerson usually hates wearing ties, but today I guess he thought that it would be fun. So, he put on all his ties and just kept laughing at how funny he was wearing all his ties. He really wants to wear this to church to show his primary teachers.

During Christmas, we play BINGO and all bring a gift to exchange during it. This year I just sat and observed it over Skype. They were opening the gifts, and one of the gifts were some little teacup measuring cups that Emily brought. By the time the next round of BINGO ended, I had bought them, and they were on there way to be mine too. I think that they are so cute...plus the were on clearance with a percentage off and free shipping. They just arrived today and I love them.

Emerson isn't really a toy player. So, when he plays with his toys without me, it is picture worthy. I am hoping as he grows that he will start playing with his toys more.

Also see that purple ball. It looks like all fun just sitting there, but in a couple of minutes it is going to fall out of the sky and be the death of all those little people. He is such a boy.

Meet our newest friend: Fuzzy. Emerson won a gift card to Build A Bear through Intel and he went to make his friend today. He got his name because he was so fuzzy. He really wanted Fluffy, but he already has a 'Fluffy" Bot.

All Emerson asked for for Christmas was a sleeping bag and oranges. Then a couple of days before Christmas he saw the frog pillow pet and asked for that too. So, of course since it was a reasonable wishlist, he ended up getting it all. He loves all of his presents!

Every year, I like to add a new ornament to our tree that represents that year. As I was making the birds for the ornament exchange I am doing, I thought a lot about what my ornament for this year will be. I was trying to think of what big things represent this year: Austin and Super Heroes. At Austin's funeral, we had red birds as a symbol of him and so I thought that it would be appropriate for him to be represented on my tree for the year 2011 as a red bird. He is sure missed.
